Job summary

Six Mile Regional Library District seeks an Assistant Director who also manages our Delmar Avenue Library. The role ensures effective daily operations, supervises MLS staff, and supports the library’s management team.

The position requires a Master of Library Science, at least four years as a librarian with two at supervisory level, and strong customer service and community engagement skills. 40-hour weeks with some evenings and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited university is required.
• Minimum four years of librarian experience with at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in human resources and/or public policy management is preferred.
• Experience in a union environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the adult and customer service functions.
• Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and manage personnel.
• Staff the reference desk and provide reference and readers advisory services.
• Develop programs and services and participate in collection development.
• Engage with community groups, boards, and committees to advance library goals.
