Job summary

New York City Law Department is seeking an Assistant Director of Professional Development in the Executive Division’s Professional and Organizational Development Unit in New York, NY.

The role oversees attorney training, orientation for entry and lateral attorneys, and flagship programs while driving the department’s professional growth initiatives. It also coordinates remote work options and partnerships to expand training resources for a skilled legal workforce.

Qualifications

• At least two years of legal experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school.
• Current NY Bar membership in good standing.
• Experience with professional development, training programs, or CLE compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage core professional development programs such as Coaching Collaborative, Training Consortium, and Mentoring Program.
• Conduct data analysis to support continuous improvement.
• Advise attorneys on CLE accreditation and compliance.
• Provide guidance on the Performance Appraisal Process for Assistant Corporation Counsels.
• Collaborate with Divisions and City agencies to expand training resources.
