Job summary

The Town of Shrewsbury is seeking an Assistant Director of the Council on Aging to lead programs for older residents and coordinate services. This leadership role focuses on advocacy, engagement, and collaborative programming with local partners.

Ideal candidates hold a related bachelor's degree and 1–3 years of supervisory or program management experience, with strong communication skills and comfort with digital tools for office and website duties.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic planning, policy development, and community needs assessments.
• Supervise, mentor, and motivate staff and volunteers to foster a high-performing environment.
• Lead programming and engagement initiatives for older adults and families with partners.
• Represent Shrewsbury in state and regional coalitions and events.
• Promote services via outreach, media relations, newsletters and social media.
• Lead Senior Center payroll, accounts payable, and invoice processing.
• Contribute to budget development, reporting, and program evaluation.
• Provide direct support and advocacy for older residents and caregivers.
