Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Virginia Beach is seeking an Assistant Dining Services Manager to oversee all aspects of food service for residents, staff, and guests. You will help hire, train, supervise, and evaluate dining staff while ensuring meals meet approved menus and dietary needs.

You will supervise staff, maintain sanitation and safety, manage budgets, and ensure quality and portion control. The role requires Serv-Safe certified or willing to become certified within 60 days, with flexible

Qualifications

• Must be Serv-Safe certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hiring.
• Dining services experience in a management or leadership capacity.
• Knowledge of ordering, storing, preparing and serving in a food service environment, preferably in a senior living community.
• Ability to read, write, and perform simple calculations.
• Quick learner and able to apply principles learned.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to stand for long periods and cope with temperature extremes, wet and/or humid conditions and noise.
• Must lift 50 lbs regularly and/or up to eight times per shift.
• Able to carry, pull or push heavy objects up to 20 feet.
• Organized and able to work well with others as part of a team.
• Willing to wear designated uniform and maintain hygiene and neat appearance.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversees all aspects of food service for residents, staff and guests.
• Assists in hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating food service staff.
• Prepares meals per approved menus and dietary needs.
• Maintains sanitation and safety per policies and regulations.
• Monitors budget for food and supply costs and maintains quality.
• Trains new dining associates and conducts in-service sessions.
• Reports faulty equipment and safety concerns to supervisor.
• Ensures proper portion control and keeps work areas clean.
