Job summary

Mary's Woods is seeking an Assistant Dining Room Manager to help oversee dining venues, manage staff, and enhance the resident experience. The role emphasizes leadership, hospitality, and adherence to high service standards within a senior living community.

The successful candidate will support daily dining operations, coordinate with the Dining Room Manager, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive culture while working a full-time, exempt schedule that may include weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma or GED
• Experience in managing dining/food service in a retirement community or similar setting preferred
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing turnover through staff selection, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, evaluation and development of personnel
• Delegate responsibilities, resolve operational problems and handle employee and resident complaints
• Assist residents and families with special parties and events as needed
• Assist with administrative tasks related to managing the dining rooms and staff, including inventory, ordering, schedules, and meal tickets
• Communicate with Dining Room Manager and Director on department matters involving residents and staff
• Demonstrate knowledge of food sanitation, safety, and service techniques
• Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators
• Foster an inclusive environment and support diversity and continual improvement

Mary's Woods is a non-profit senior living community founded in 2001. We offer independent living, assisted living, memory care and residential care in a park-like setting on 40 acres in Lake Oswego. Below are some of the core responsibilities, experience and skills needed to be successful:

• Assist inmanaging turnover through appropriate staff selection, hiring, orientation, training, education, coaching, evaluation and development of new and existing personnel
• Demonstrateconsiderable initiative and judgment involved in assigned tasks, delegating responsibilities, resolving operational problems and handling employee and resident complaints and concerns
• Assistresidents and their families with special parties and/or events as needed
• Assistwith administrative tasks related to managing the dining rooms and staff, including but not limited to: inventory and ordering, reviewing weekly schedules and employee punches; reviewing, correcting, properly organizing and filing customer meal tickets Assist with dining reports, assist with updating resident communication boards
• Communicatewith Dining Room Manager and/or Director on department matters and concerns involving residents, employees and other departments
• Demonstrate initiative and judgment involved in assigned tasks, delegate responsibilities, resolve operation problems and handle employee and resident complaints and concerns
• Demonstrate knowledge of food sanitation practices, workplace safety, labor laws, housekeeping procedures and food and wine service techniques
• Promotepositive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude
• Createan environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences
• Seekopportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement

Education and Experience Required:

• Education and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma or GED
• Previous restaurant or food service industry in a retirement community or long term aging facilities preferred
• Experience in management and/or supervision of restaurants, hotels, or retirement community facilities preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint)

The starting wage depends on experience, certification and education. This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled to work 5 days a week and will include working weekends and holidays.
