Job summary

Talbots is seeking an Assistant Designer to support the creation of a fully concepted sweater line. You will assist in fashion direction, tech packs, and presentation materials while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a cohesive collection.

The role requires a Design degree, 1–2 years in design, and a flair for sketching and trend analysis. Proficiency in Photoshop/Illustrator and a passion for knitwear are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Design or equivalent required.
• Experience with knits/sweaters preferred.
• 1–2 years of design experience in fashion.
• Strong sketching and illustration abilities.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for fashion.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Designer in creating a fully concepted line for the Sweaters category.
• Prepare tech packs, flats, and pitch/trim sheets for development.
• Set up Concept presentations and presentation boards.
• Participate in line assortment and fittings to inform design direction.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Merchandising, and Vendors.

Assists in set up of all Concept presentationsParticipates in line assortment building and line presentations with the goal of creating a cohesive and exciting collectionAssists in research and development for trims and print and patternAttends all fittings and provides input/feedback as necessary.
