California Lottery is seeking an Assistant Deputy Director, Sales to provide strategic direction for statewide field sales operations from its Sacramento headquarters. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, Sales (DDS) the Assistant Deputy Director (ADDS) provides executive leadership for all field sales functions. As a key member of the Sales Division’s executive team, the ADDS is responsible for assisting the DDs in executing business strategies and tactics to achieve short and long-term objectives for developing and expanding the sale of Lottery products to ensure the success of the Lottery's mission to generate supplemental funding statewide for public education. Serves as the principal policy maker for field Sales operational policies. This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is currently eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as required. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires the employee to reside in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: "telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California." The Lottery is close to all that Downtown Sacramento has to offer. Amenities include an onsite restaurant, free gym, close to the light rail station, electric car charging stations, and free parking.
Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours for Personal Leave hours each month. Career Executive Assignment (CEA) examinations may consist of two or more distinct phases. Candidates must successfully pass each phase in sequence as listed above to advance to the next phase. Possession of the Examination Qualifications requirements does not assure a place on the eligible list. A minimum rating of 70% must be attained in the Examination to obtain list eligibility for this position. All candidates will receive written notification of their examination results.
