Overview of Responsibilities
As the Assistant Deli Manager, you play a key role in helping customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service through managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store.
- Assist the Deli Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit.
- Responsible for ordering, inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Deli team.
- Coordinate production, merchandising, and sales through planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork.
- Lead a team that strives to deliver the highest quality products, top-notch service, and an exceptional customer experience.
- Assist in hiring, training, developing, and coaching the Deli team.
- Manage store deliveries, operate, and maintain deli equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines/regulations, and ensure team members are aware of and follow these procedures.

Qualifications
To be an Assistant Deli Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old, with a preferred 2 years of supervisory experience and knowledge of deli or related food service.
- Be dependable and reliable, with the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to follow and give directions in a team environment.
- Be outgoing, friendly, positive, and able to interact effectively with customers, including taking special orders and answering phones.
- Have proven leadership skills to build, motivate, and maintain staff, with knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales, and financial goals.
- Possess strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain Food Safety certification and ensure compliance with all regulations for product freshness, safety, weights and measures, sanitation, and employee safety.
- Have strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 70 lbs., move products horizontally and vertically over distances up to 20 feet, without mechanical assistance, for up to 4 hours.
- Stand for up to 8 hours per shift, with continuous standing for up to 4 hours.
- Operate deli equipment such as slicers, wrapping, and cooking equipment, and assist in maintaining all equipment in safe working condition.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
