Job summary

Westminster Village is seeking a hands-on, organized, and resident-focused Assistant Culinary Services Director to support the daily operation of our Culinary Department, with a focus on dining services in licensed areas. You will lead a multigenerational team and collaborate with the Culinary Services Director, Executive Chef, and nursing to ensure high standards and resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• At least three years of foodservice experience with leadership responsibilities
• Senior living, healthcare, hospital, or other regulated foodservice experience preferred
• Certified Dietary Manager credential preferred, but not required
• ServSafe Manager certification required or must be obtained within six months of hire
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on kitchen/dining support
• Able to work a varied schedule including weekends/holidays

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and support for Culinary employees, focusing on licensed dining areas
• Ensure therapeutic diets, modified textures, allergies, diet cards, and meal-service procedures are followed
• Monitor food safety, sanitation, storage, labeling, temperatures, cleaning, and documentation
• Train, coach, and develop Culinary staff
• Conduct sanitation and compliance checks and address concerns
• Assist with scheduling, staffing coverage, and daily operations
• Collaborate with nursing, dietitian, Executive Chef, and other departments
• Maintain a visible dining room presence and respond to resident/family feedback
• Support special events, menu improvements, and dining experiences
• Lead department in the Culinary Services Director's absence

Summary

Westminster Village is seeking a hands-on, organized, and resident-focused Assistant Culinary Services Director to join our Culinary leadership team.

This position works closely with the Culinary Services Director and Executive Chef to support the daily operation of our Culinary Department, with a primary focus on dining services in our licensed areas. The ideal candidate is a visible leader who enjoys developing employees, solving problems, maintaining high standards, and building positive relationships with residents.

The Assistant Culinary Services Director will lead and support a multigenerational Culinary team, with employees ranging from 14 years of age and older. This position requires someone who can effectively communicate with, train, coach, motivate, and hold accountable employees with varying levels of experience and maturity.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and support for Culinary employees, with primary oversight of licensed dining areas
• Ensure therapeutic diets, modified textures, allergies, diet cards, and meal-service procedures are followed accurately
• Monitor food safety, sanitation, food storage, labeling and dating, temperatures, cleaning, and required documentation
• Train, coach, and develop new and existing Culinary employees
• Conduct routine sanitation and compliance checks and follow through on identified concerns
• Assist with scheduling, staffing coverage, employee performance, and daily department operations
• Work collaboratively with nursing, the registered dietitian, the Executive Chef, and other departments
• Maintain a visible presence in dining areas and respond to resident and family feedback
• Support special events, menu improvements, and the overall resident dining experience
• Assume department leadership responsibilities in the Culinary Services Director's absence
