Job summary

Civicworks seeks an Assistant Counsel to support the Office of Cannabis Management's Legal Division in New York. The role reports to the General Counsel and handles agency contracts, HR issues, FOIL requests, and administrative duties while providing technical legal guidance to leadership.

Responsibilities include monitoring labor relations, developing ethics policies, performing legal research, reviewing procurements, and potentially supervising other attorneys.

Qualifications

• Admission to and good standing of the NY State Bar.
• Two years of subsequent professional legal experience.
• Valid NY Driver's License or ability to obtain transportation.
• Experience with labor relations and employment law.
• Contract review and legal research skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage legal matters including agency contracts, HR issues, FOIL requests and administrative support.
• Provide technical legal advice to executive leadership.
• Monitor labor relations and develop ethics policies.
• Conduct legal research and review procurements.
• Potentially supervise other attorneys.
