Job summary

The State of New York's Office of Cannabis Management is seeking an Associate Counsel in Albany to support licensing, compliance, and enforcement programs. You will assist with reviewing and drafting legislation and regulations, and manage attorneys and legal staff under the direction of a Deputy Counsel.

This role requires close collaboration with OCM and Cannabis Control Board teams, strong legal research skills, and effective communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar and four years of post-licensure legal experience.
• Ability to draft legislation, regulations, and legal memoranda.
• Experience supervising attorneys and legal staff preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support licensing, compliance, and enforcement efforts for OCM.
• Draft and review legislation and regulations.
• Supervise attorneys and legal assistants within OGC.
• Represent OCM in hearings and advise on policy and guidance.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Attend meetings as needed.
