Job summary

Aduro Advisors is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead a client-focused accounting team serving venture capital and private equity clients. You will balance preparer and reviewer duties, manage workflow, and ensure timely, accurate reporting under US GAAP using Xero and related systems.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in the alternative asset space, strong Excel skills, and a track record leading engagements for multiple clients.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in the alternative asset industry (Venture/Private Equity preferred).
• Strong understanding of US GAAP and partnership accounting including complex allocations.
• Experience leading engagements for multiple clients in a client-facing role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Xero or QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for multiple clients and manage workflow among Aduro team members.
• Set up and run recurring client check-in calls and cover status, open items, and needs.
• Respond to ad-hoc client requests in a timely, professional manner per Aduro processes.
• Reconcile banking, prepare journal entries, and maintain ledgers per US GAAP (Xero).
• Drive month-end close and coordinate with Senior Controller/Controller and clients.
• Reconcile and maintain investment information for fund investments and prepare quarterly statements.
• Coordinate audit materials and manage year-end financial statement audit and tax work.
• Provide coaching to junior team members and delegate tasks with oversight.
