Job summary

Caturus Energy in Houston seeks an experienced Assistant Controller, Financial Reporting & General Accounting – Upstream. You will oversee monthly financial statements, external quarterly and annual statements, and MD&A, reporting to the Controller, Upstream, and coordinating with shared services.

You will supervise Upstream reserves and property accounting, review reserve reports and impairment analyses, and collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
• CPA, CMA or MBA strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of experience, with 8+ years in upstream oil and gas required.
• Experience mixing public accounting and oil & gas industry is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to manage and mentor a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of external financial statements, MD&A, footnotes and internal reports for Upstream.
• Direct management of Upstream accounting staff and coordination with shared services.
• Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely, high-quality audit deliverables.
• Prepare technical accounting memos on complex Upstream transactions.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control policies; manage deadlines.
