Job summary

Marders, a Hamptons-based company, is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting. This full-time, office-based role is located in Bridgehampton, New York, and reports to senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will drive the monthly close, budgeting, costing, and cross‑department financial transparency while implementing process improvements and financial technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Proficient in A/P, A/R, reconciliations, and departmental reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the monthly close process and prepare timely financial statements.
• Present financial results and host monthly reviews with ownership and senior management.
• Maintain and enhance the company’s financial reporting package for actionable insights to departmental leaders.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, including setting the calendar, coordinating departmental inputs, and conducting budget reviews.
• Develop the annual budget and 5-year strategic plan in partnership with owners and senior leadership.
• Design, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy.
• Identify and implement technological solutions to streamline accounting functions and reduce manual processes.
• Manage and provide oversight of core accounting operations, including: A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, project profitability reporting, costing, billing, and multi-department P&L statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company policies.
