Job summary

Simply Southern in Greensboro, NC is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our Accounting and Finance team. This role will work closely with the CFO and Director of Accounting & HR to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting and close processes.

The ideal candidate will oversee month-end close, reconciliations, GL integrity, and internal controls, while guiding the accounting staff and coordinating with external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with emphasis on general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with external auditors and tax professionals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules; review entries by team.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations; resolve discrepancies.
• Review general ledger and monthly financial statements for accuracy and variances.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, invoicing, and other transactional accounting functions.
• Manage multi-state sales tax filings, tax reporting, and Form 1099s.
• Assist with ERP enhancements, testing, and accounting system projects.
• Provide training and guidance to accounting staff and liaise with CFO/HR.
