Job summary

ZipApply is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller with accounting, financial reporting, compliance, internal controls, and operational accounting across development, property management, corporate, and affiliated entities. The role provides hands-on leadership in financial operations and ensures accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience with property management and/or real estate accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software – MRI and Yardi preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations across development, property management, corporate, and related entities.
• Analyze financial information for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Participate in month-, quarter-, and year-end closing activities.
• Review and approve transactions, reconciliations, adjustments, and reporting deliverables.
• Maintain financial reporting processes and internal controls.
• Provide oversight for development projects and managed properties’ accounting.
• Coordinate with operations and property teams to address financial matters and improve reporting.
• Support corporate accounting activities, vendor administration, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and internal control standards.
• Lead with cross-functional teams and back up critical accounting/treasury duties.
• Drive process improvements and support strategic initiatives.
