Job summary

Asset Living is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead a team of accountants and oversee monthly financial statements for a group of clients. You will ensure GAAP compliance, accuracy of rent rolls, bank reconciliations, and timely reporting.

Work with the Controller and CFO to develop budgets, review performance, and implement process improvements. This safety-sensitive role requires CPA-eligible or CPA-preferred candidates and prior third-party multi-family experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA eligible or CPA preferred.
• 3rd party multi-family property management experience.
• Experience leading or managing a team of accountants.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a specific team of accountants and ensure accurate financial statements.
• Deliver financial statements within client deadlines and communicate with clients.
• Review rent rolls, reconcile bank statements, and monitor monthly operating results vs. budget.
• Coordinate with operations to prepare and approve property budgets.
• Collaborate with Controller and CFO to set goals, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in hiring and annual performance reviews for accounting staff.
• Support audit requests and drive procedural improvements.
• Travel: this position does not require travel.
