Job summary

Allied Residential, Inc. in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the property accounting function. This hands-on leadership role oversees a team of property accountants, driving timely financials, reconciliations, journal entries, and owner reporting.

You will mentor staff, streamline workflows in Yardi, and coordinate with clients and operations to resolve issues. CPA is preferred and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration is required.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including property management.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and develop property Accountants with clear expectations.
• Review monthly financials, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and owner reporting.
• Provide hands-on coverage during PTO or workload spikes and improve workflows.
• Support year-end close, audits, and regulatory reporting; enforce controls.
• Lead systems and process improvements for accounting workflows (Yardi).
