Job summary

Allied Residential, a Washington-based multifamily property management firm, seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the property accounting function. You will supervise property accountants, review monthly financials, and resolve issues with operations and clients.

This hands-on leadership role requires mentoring, close collaboration across departments, and improving processes in Yardi and related systems. CPA preferred and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including property management accounting.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong experience with Yardi property management accounting software (required).
• Advanced Excel proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the property accounting team with clear expectations for quality and deadlines.
• Review monthly property financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and owner reporting.
• Provide hands-on accounting support and coverage for PTO or workload spikes.
• Ensure close deadlines are met and enforce internal controls and policies.
