Job summary

HireIQ is partnering with an award-winning engineering consultancy to appoint an Assistant Controller who can develop into the company’s next Controller.

You will work closely with the Controller and CFO, gaining exposure across accounting functions and leading project accounting, close, FAR compliance, audits and forecasting as part of the succession plan.

This hybrid New York City role offers three days in office and two remote, with a path to lead the accounting department and equity ownership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Senior Accounting, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller-level experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee billing, AR, AP, GL, payroll, cost accounting and revenue recognition.
• Lead monthly and annual close processes; Oversee project accounting, WIP, job costs and project profitability.
• Prepare executive and Board-level financial reporting.
• Manage FAR compliance and indirect-cost-rate calculations.
• Support government-agency overhead submissions.
• Lead external audits and strengthen internal controls.
• Partner with Project Managers and operational leadership.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, cash flow and strategic planning.
• Lead, mentor and develop accounting staff.
• Work closely with the Controller and CFO on the succession plan.
