Job summary

Jewish National Fund-USA is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join the Finance Department in New York. You will support the Controller and oversee investments, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, reconciliations, reporting, and audit support for a nonprofit with a strong mission.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance experience.
• 0
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA preferred but not required.
• Experience with investments, reconciliations, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting audits and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations including investments, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and reporting.
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions and ensure accuracy of records.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations and analyses.
• Perform monthly and annual reconciliations with third-party statements.
• Monitor cash activity and financial transactions for timely recording.
• Assist in budgeting development, monitoring and forecasting.
• Monitor results against budget and analyze variances.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and analyses.
• Coordinate and support annual financial statement audits.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls and procedures.
• Partner with departments to support reporting and objectives.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Serve as resource for finance questions and cross-functional support.
