Job summary

The JCC of Staten Island is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, grant and contract compliance, and internal controls. You will drive month-end close, financial analysis, and compliance with nonprofit standards while reporting to the CFO and collaborating with program leadership.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in nonprofit accounting, strong Excel skills, and the ability to lead a finance team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in nonprofit accounting, including grant/contract management.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general accounting functions and financial reporting.
• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly reports, budget-to-actual analyses, and KPIs.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
• Manage grant and contract accounting and reporting obligations.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support audits and implement internal controls.
