Job summary

Xplora Search Group is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations within a private financial services firm. The role partners with senior finance leadership to deliver timely financial statements, coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual closes, and manage multi-entity reporting.

This hands-on leadership role emphasizes strong GAAP knowledge, staff development, process improvement and accounting technology, with exposure to investment reporting and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong financial statement preparation and GAAP knowledge.
• Real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing or overseeing day-to-day accounting operations.
• Previous team leadership, supervision or mentoring experience.
• Public accounting experience or a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• Investment or fund accounting exposure is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee monthly, quarterly and annual close processes.
• Review financial statements, account reconciliations, workpapers and supporting schedules for accuracy and completeness.
• Oversee accounting and financial reporting across multiple entities and investments.
• Review cash activity, bank reconciliations, operating expenses and balance sheet activity.
• Support investment-level and corporate financial reporting.
• Assist with investment and fund-related accounting activities.
• Support distributions, financial analysis and other investment-related reporting.
• Assist with annual audits and coordinate with external accounting and tax partners.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting and technology.
• Manage, mentor and develop members of the accounting team.
• Partner with other areas of the organization to provide accounting and financial insight.
• Assist senior finance leadership with special projects and strategic initiatives.
