Job summary

Specialized Recruiting Group is conducting a confidential search for an experienced Assistant Controller on behalf of a highly respected national professional services organization. This hybrid opportunity offers leadership of a four-person Staff Accounting team and exposure to treasury, auditing, and system implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory or management experience.
• Experience within a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, audits, and cash management.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Aderant experience is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of four Staff Accountants.
• Review and approve bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Assist with monthly and year-end close activities.
• Prepare balance sheet schedules and support financial statement preparation.
• Lead and coordinate annual financial statement audit deliverables.
• Manage treasury functions, including wire transfers, escrow accounts, and banking relationships.
• Oversee fixed asset, incentive compensation, and unclaimed property processes.
• Support financial reporting, surveys, and regulatory reporting.
• Lead accounting process improvements and system implementation projects.
• Serve as Project Manager for accounting system enhancements, including Aderant initiatives.
• Partner with leadership on special projects and operational improvements.
