Job summary

Emerald Resource Group in the United States is seeking a hands-on accounting leader to serve as the #2 to the Controller. You will run the close, own technical accounting, and build a team that remains strong when holidays or vacations occur.

This role offers direct line to the Controller with real visibility to FP&A and firm leadership, plus involvement in acquisition integration work and process documentation to scale the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA or actively pursuing.
• 6–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervising or mentoring staff.
• Strong GAAP knowledge, close, multi-entity consolidation, and reconciliation experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close, including account reconciliations.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries and technical accounting (leases, investments, fixed assets, revenue recognition), with audit-ready memos.
• Supervise and mentor staff and senior accountants.
• Serve as a key contact for external audit and support bank and shareholder reporting.
• Oversee AP/AR and support accounting integration for acquired entities.
• Build out SOPs and workflows for a scalable team, and back up the Controller.
