Job summary

The COOL Company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting as the organization scales. Reporting to the CFO, you will oversee daily accounting operations, support the close process, and guide a growing accounting team across multiple entities and currencies.

You will combine strong U.S. GAAP expertise with leadership capabilities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, leveraging automation and AI to build scalable finance processes.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including senior roles.
• CPA preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting.
• Startup or high-growth experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven leadership in accounting or finance teams.
• Experience leading monthly close and consolidated financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, audits, and policies.
• Ability to support FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Strong Excel and data-analysis capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders.
• Highly organized with attention to deadlines and priorities.
• Hands-on mindset, detail-oriented, and practical problem-solver.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and support monthly/quarterly/annual close.
• Prepare and review consolidated financial statements per U.S. GAAP.
• Oversee accounting across multiple entities and currencies.
• Manage intercompany activity, FX remeasurement, and translation.
• Maintain reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and close activities.
• Oversee revenue recognition, A/R, A/P, fixed assets, and other functions.
• Support accounting treatment for complex transactions.
• Improve chart of accounts, policies, and close procedures.
• Assist with annual audits and tax activities with external advisors.
• Strengthen internal controls for a growing org.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and well-documented financial reporting.
• Provide leadership and coaching to accounting team members.
• Partner with Sales, Operations, HR, Tech, and other functions.
• Drive scalable processes and continuous improvement.
