Job summary

ENSTAR Natural Gas Company is hiring an Assistant Controller in Alaska to lead accounting functions, report to the VP Finance, and ensure GAAP compliance. You will manage gas accounting, tax provisions, and reconciliations while supporting auditors and internal controls.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, a BA/BS in a related field, and CPA (preferred). Strong communication and analytical skills are essential in a dynamic energy environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible work experience.
• Certified Public Accounting (CPA) preferred.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of leadership experience.
• Experience preparing financial reports in accordance with GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Manage ongoing gas accounting functions, high‑level calculations and cost postings to the GL.
• Support filing of GCA and rate cases.
• Prepare income tax provisions and schedules; coordinate with TSU when needed.
• Prepare financial reports for internal use and TSU.
• Prepare reconciliations and resolve items with staff.
• Coordinate with auditors and respond to inquiries; implement audit recommendations.
• Maintain internal controls and monitor processes for improvement.
• Keep up with professional knowledge and accounting research.
• Serve as a technical accounting research resource for compliance with GAAP.
