Job summary

Harry and David, LLC is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the day-to-day operations of the GL Accounting Department. The role includes supervising a team, overseeing revenue under ASC 606, AR/AP, inventory/cost accounting, and intercompany activities.

You will also review GAAP pronouncements and guide implementation impacts. You will partner with department managers to communicate variance analyses, manage month-end close, and supervise SOX controls across processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or relevant experience
• Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment with food industry and manufacturing cost accounting experience
• Strong technical and analytical capabilities with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Oracle), advanced Excel and data modeling
• Excellent communication and organizational skills translating financial information for non-finance stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Manage daily, weekly, and monthly activities of general accounting including month end close and audit support
• Direct postings for e-commerce and wholesale revenues and ensure GAAP compliance
• Partner with cost center managers to communicate variance analysis to leadership
• Oversee revenue recognition, A/R and cash reconciliations
• Oversee SOX controls across processes
• Communicate variance analysis to non-financial partners and executive leadership
• Collaborate with marketing teams on catalog advertising and digital marketing expenses and accruals
• Support Finance and Accounting Managers in providing financial information to users
• Lead special projects as assigned
