Job summary

Challenger Group Support LLC is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing the accounting function. The role ensures complete, accurate, and timely financial information and supports monthly close and internal controls. It provides day-to-day guidance to accounting staff and coordinates with external auditors and tax firms.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, 4–7 years of accounting experience, and strong US GAAP knowledge. CPA preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
4–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
CPA or active pursuit preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Assist the Controller in ensuring monthly financial statements are complete, accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with US GAAP.
Review and reconcile material balance sheet accounts prior to publication; investigate discrepancies.
Escalate material accounting or cash issues to the Controller promptly.
Supervise and develop the accounting team; ensure clear accountability and deadlines.
Prepare budget, forecast inputs, and variance analysis for leadership.
