Job summary

BMS CAT, a disaster restoration leader, seeks an Assistant Controller in Haltom City, TX. You will oversee month-end close, lease accounting under ASC 842, prepaid management, and balance sheet reconciliations while guiding a Senior Accountant. The role reports to the Controller and supports audits and lending compliance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in accounting, a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, and strong Excel and ERP experience. CPA or pursuing CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• CPA licensure or active pursuit is a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with month-end close and balance sheet ownership.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain ASC 842 lease accounting database and related journal entries.
• Manage prepaid expense schedule and related amortization entries.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Review department P&L statements and reclassify entries as needed.
• Assist with audits and annual bank exam related to credit facilities.
• Supervise one Senior Accountant and provide coaching and development.
