Job summary

Benchmark Search in Dallas seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to support accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls. The role requires 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, prior Assistant Controller or similar leadership, and strong month-end close and GAAP reporting.

CPA is preferred but not mandatory. The candidate will collaborate with finance and operations to resolve accounting issues, drive reporting improvements, and support audits

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accounting Manager, or similar role.
• Strong month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting background.
• Experience reviewing accounting work and managing close deadlines.
• Working knowledge of internal controls, audits, and accounting process improvement.
• Strong Excel and reporting skills.
• Good communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close.
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Review general ledger activity and ensure financial statements are accurate and timely.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Review work prepared by accounting staff and help manage close deadlines.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support audits, tax requests, compliance reporting, and other external reporting needs.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Partner with finance and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting.
• Help drive process improvements, system enhancements, and accounting workflow efficiency.
