Job summary

Wayne Fueling Systems LLC. seeks an Assistant Controller – Accounting Operations to lead transactional accounting across AP/AR, billing, collections, and cash application, while driving process improvements, internal controls, and scalable workflows.

You will partner with Procurement, Operations, Sales, and Customer Service to optimize working capital, support close activities, and mentor a growing accounting team in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with AP/AR operations.
• 2+ years of people leadership or direct management experience.
• Experience in an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, month-end close, reconciliations, internal controls.
• Experience leading process improvements, automation, or system implementations.
• Experience with ERP systems and Excel; automated workflow tools a plus.
• Manufacturing or complex multi-site environment preferred.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, communication, collaboration, and project-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize effectively and operate with accountability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• AP/AR & Accounting Operations: lead AP, AR, billing, collections, cash application.
• Ensure timely processing of invoices, receipts, credit memos, payments, and reconciliations.
• Monitor approvals, payments, vendor setup, collections activity, disputes, and customer account health.
• Analyze aging trends, unapplied cash, overdue balances, payment terms, and other drivers of working capital.
• Develop KPIs for AP and AR performance and service levels.
• Partner with Procurement, Operations, Sales, and Customer Service to resolve issues.
• Maintain internal controls across AP, AR, billing, collections, cash application, and related processes.
• Review reconciliations, accruals, reserves, aging reports and other schedules.
• Identify control gaps, risks, bottlenecks; drive practical solutions.
• Standardize and document procedures; improve consistency and reduce manual work.
• Drive automation across transactional activities; support ERP enhancements.
