Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is assisting a well-established Seymour-based construction company in its search for an Assistant Controller. This onsite role focuses on hands-on construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and financial analysis, with close collaboration with senior leadership.

The successful candidate will manage AIA billing, tax compliance across states, cash management, and an ERP transition, contributing to the department's growth and accuracy of reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong construction accounting experience, preferably in a general contracting environment.
• Extensive knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financials.
• Experience with joint venture accounting is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of multistate sales and use tax requirements.
• Experience with AIA billing and construction-related cash management.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software; Sage 300 or Premier experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction accounting activities, including job costing, project budgets, and profitability analysis.
• Manage accounting for multiple construction projects and joint venture arrangements.
• Prepare and review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and construction financial reports.
• Handle multistate sales and use tax reporting and compliance.
• Oversee project-related cash management, cash flow forecasting, and reconciliations.
• Manage AIA billing, progress billing, and payment applications.
• Partner with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost tracking.
• Assist with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and process improvements.
• Support accounting system enhancements and an upcoming ERP transition.
