Job summary

LHH is seeking an Assistant Controller in the Plymouth Meeting, PA area (Hybrid) to support financial reporting, job costing, project accounting, and month-end close activities. The role collaborates with senior leadership to provide critical financial insights for project-based operations.

The ideal candidate will have construction accounting experience with WIP reporting and cost accounting, plus strong Excel and ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Construction accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of WIP reporting and job costing.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages.
• Manage and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Perform cost accounting and job cost analysis.
• Support construction and project accounting activities.
• Review invoices, perform transaction analysis, and identify trends.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with operations and project leaders to improve financial performance.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within accounting and reporting processes.
• Supervise and mentor one Accounting Assistant.

Location: Plymouth Meeting, PA Area (Hybrid)

Schedule: Approximately 4 days onsite / 1 day remote

Compensation: Up to $130,000 base salary + 5% bonus

Position Summary

This role will serve as a key member of the accounting team, supporting financial reporting, job costing, project accounting, and month-end close activities. Reporting to senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will provide critical financial insights that support business operations and strategic decision-making.

• Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
• Understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting is highly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
