About the Opportunity
We are conducting a confidential search on behalf of a well-established, privately held construction company with approximately $500M in annual revenue and a strong reputation for delivering complex projects across multiple sectors.
The organization operates is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the Controller and CFO in managing day-to-day accounting operations.
This is a highly visible role offering meaningful exposure to senior leadership, operations, and long-term growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Controller and CFO in managing accounting operations
- Oversee and drive monthly close processes
- Liaise with job costing and project accounting teams
- Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and compliance
- Support internal and external audits
- Assist with process improvements and system optimization
- Mentor and support accounting staff
Required Qualifications
- Background in corporate accounting within a job-costing business
- Construction experience or transferable industry experience
- Proven ability to manage monthly close
- Comfortable working in a mid-sized accounting team
- CPA preferred
- Prior public accounting experience is highly valued
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with construction ERPs and integrated sub-ledgers
- Experience supporting financial, labor compliance, insurance, and contract audits
- Exposure to advanced reporting tools (SQL, Crystal Reports, or similar)
- Experience mentoring senior accountants
Target Candidate Profile
- Currently an experienced Accounting Manager or an Assistant Controller or Director of Accounting
- Combination of public accounting and industry experience, or strong private industry background
- Technically strong, detail-oriented, and hands-on
