Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller that will play a key role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations and will work closely with leadership to support strategic decision-making. You’ll help drive financial performance by ensuring accuracy in reporting, maintaining robust cost accounting practices, and collaborating with operations to analyze key business metrics.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop and maintain standard costing and perform variance analysis on labor, materials, and overhead.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes across locations.
• Reconcile inventory accounts and ensure cost data integrity.
• Uphold GAAP compliance and corporate accounting policies.
• Partner with internal and external auditors, preparing documentation as required.
• Help identify and implement improvements in financial systems and internal controls.
• Analyze operational data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with operations and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers and improve margins.
• Assist in supervising and supporting local accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably within a manufacturing setting
• Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory reconciliation
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel and comfortable handling large data sets
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Effective communicator with the ability to work across departments and levels
• Able to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment

Work arrangement: This role is hybrid with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote

• Requires travel to Illinois 4 days a month, 2 days at a time.
