Job summary

The Bolton Group is seeking an Assistant Controller in Irving, TX to join our growing real estate development team. This role reports to Corporate Controller and offers high visibility and leadership responsibility.

We welcome candidates from Big 4 backgrounds transitioning to industry or seasoned industry accountants with homebuilding experience looking to move into management. In-office 5 days/week in Irving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• CPA certification is required.
• 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Public accounting experience is preferred.
• Residential construction/homebuilding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger and accounting operations across multiple entities.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review GAAP financial statements.
• Manage audit processes and external relationships.
• Drive process improvements, internal controls, and system optimization.
• Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop an accounting team.

We are currently partnering with a well-established regional real estate developer to identify an Assistant Controller to join their team in the DFW area.

This is a high-impact role reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, offering strong visibility and leadership responsibility within a growing organization.

We’re open to two profiles:

• A strong public accounting (Big 4 or similar) Manager ready to transition into the industry

• An industry accounting professional (homebuilding/construction experience preferred) stepping into a management role

Location

• Irving, Texas
• In-office 5 days/week

Compensation

• Base: $135K–$170K
• Bonus: 15%
