Assistant Controller | Onsite for training, then 4 days onsite

Overview

A growing organization is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller to support the Chief Financial Officer with financial reporting, process improvement, technology integration, and accounting team development. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and contribute to the company’s continued growth and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee month-end and quarter-end closing processes, including preparation and analysis of financial statements and reconciliations.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Enhance utilization of existing accounting and financial systems and lead technology-related projects.
Assist in the implementation and completion of accounting software for one of the business divisions.
Identify and execute opportunities to improve operational efficiency through better use of technology.

Capital & Investment Support

Collaborate with the CFO to oversee investment funds and support capital-raising initiatives for fleet or asset expansion.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with banks and lending partners.

Audit & Compliance

Assist with annual financial audits and progressively take a lead role in managing the audit process.
Support the CFO in recruiting, mentoring, and overseeing the accounting team.
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with business unit leaders to provide data-driven insights, financial analysis, and performance reporting.
Represent the finance department in internal and external business functions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally within leasing, dealership, or transportation industries.
Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and audit processes.
Experience with accounting or ERP systems and related technology tools.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment.
