A growing, PE–backed manufacturing company is seeking an Assistant Controller to support its expanding finance organization. This role will work closely with the Controller and leadership team to strengthen financial reporting, cost accounting, and operational decision‑making across multiple manufacturing sites.

This is a highly hands‑on role ideal for someone with strong manufacturing accounting experience who enjoys being close to operations, improving processes, and helping drive financial insight across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Controller with day‑to‑day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month‑end close
  • Lead and support cost accounting activities, including standard costing, job costing, and inventory analysis
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, overhead rates, and variances to support pricing and operational decision‑making
  • Assist with monthly close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Prepare financial analysis and reporting for leadership and executive review
  • Support external audits and maintain strong internal controls and GAAP compliance
  • Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management
  • Partner closely with operations and plant leadership to align financial data with production performance
  • Support ERP systems and reporting tools; assist with system enhancements and process improvements
  • Provide guidance and oversight to plant‑level accounting staff
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Strong background in cost accounting, inventory management, and job costing
  • Experience working in ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Experience supporting audits and improving financial processes
  • Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred
  • CPA or progress toward CPA a plus
