Compensation: Up to $105,000 base salary + discretionary bonus
Overview
A growing, private equity-backed manufacturing organization is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its North American finance team. This is a newly created position driven by continued growth and offers strong visibility to leadership along with a clear path for advancement.
This role will partner closely with the VP of Finance and operations leadership to strengthen accounting processes, lead the month-end close, and enhance financial controls across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead key components of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process
- Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and inventory-related entries
- Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Assist in preparing internal financial reporting and variance analysis
- Support audit processes and ensure timely and accurate documentation
Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance
- Partner with plant leadership to ensure accurate cost accounting and inventory valuation
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances, providing actionable insights
- Support standard cost updates, cost roll-ups, and inventory processes
- Evaluate manufacturing performance, including cost drivers such as freight, scrap, and operational efficiency
Controls & Process Improvement
- Help strengthen internal controls and standardize accounting processes across locations
- Identify and implement process improvements within accounting and reporting workflows
- Support ERP enhancements and financial system improvements
Leadership
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior accounting staff
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including manufacturing and cost accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP, inventory accounting, and month-end close processes
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferred
- Proven ability to analyze data and communicate financial insights clearly
- Hands‑on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
