The Opportunity

We're seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to join the Dallas-based corporate team. This role will help scale the accounting infrastructure to match the pace of growth while mentoring staff, modernizing processes, and partnering with leadership to support strategic initiatives.

You’ll oversee two Staff Accountants and an AP Supervisor (3 direct reports), with two additional AP team members reporting indirectly through the Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor a small but growing team (3 direct and 2 indirect reports).
• Hire and onboard an additional Staff Accountant to support transactional accounting.
• Own daily bank reconciliations, journal entries, amortization, and fixed asset accounting (high volume).
• Support monthly close, P&L reporting, dashboard updates, and preparation of financial statements.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling alongside area controllers and CFO.
• Contribute to capital project tracking, overhead allocations, and revenue recognition processes.
• Support the audit process and work on tax-related reporting, including sales & use tax and property tax.
• Use and optimize tools including Sage, Yooz (AP automation), Excel, and Power BI.
• Assist in M&A integration and purchase accounting as needed.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including GL, AP, and month-end close in a service-oriented industry.
• Prior experience supervising staff or mentoring junior team members.
• Experience in fixed assets, depreciation, job costing, or multi-location operations is highly valued.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — someone personable, adaptable, and confident working cross-functionally.
• Familiarity with GAAP, and understanding of lease accounting and recent pronouncements is a plus.
• Experience in construction, facilities, logistics, or waste management is preferred.
