Position Summary
The Assistant Construction Supervisor is responsible for the adequate training and supervision of the participants in the construction of their houses under the Self-Help Program. Under the supervision of the Construction Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise clients/volunteers in the building of homes under the Self-help TA grant guidelines. This position does not supervise CPLC employees.
SPECIALIZATIONS
- Teaches tool use safety, maintains, safe working conditions and obtains adequate tools for the job being done
- Organize work crews, along with the construction supervisor, for maximum efficiency of manpower and materials
- Prepares purchase and scheduling of materials and the scheduling of sub-contractors and vendors
- Attempts to maintain good group human relationships in cooperation with the group coordinators
- Other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties And Essential Functions
- Ability to delegate authority and responsibility
- Interest in development of Self-Help Housing in Southern Arizona
- Very organized and have ability to organize activities of others
Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
Education /Background:
- Professional building skills with union or equivalent construction experience; but must have not only the skills but also the ability to each them to others
- Must have the ability to delegate authority and responsibility
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Should have experience as foreman, superintendent or private building
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable

- Reliable and responsible supervisor
- Individual is required to pay close attention to details
- Able to work weekends (Sat and Sun)
