Gorman & Company is seeking an Assistant Construction Superintendent to support field operations at Midtown Commons in Milwaukee, WI. You will assist the Field Superintendent and Project Manager to maintain the schedule and uphold safety standards on a 200-unit multifamily project with two 100-unit phases through mid-2028.

The role focuses on coordinating subcontractors, monitoring progress, reviewing specs, and ensuring quality.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in construction supervision or field operations.
• High school diploma; degree in construction management/engineering preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and MS Project.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as needed.

Join our team as an Assistant Construction Superintendent at Midtown Commons!

Gorman & Company is seeking an Assistant Construction Superintendent to support field operations at Midtown Commons, a 200-unit multifamily development in Milwaukee, WI, consisting of two 100-unit phases with completion anticipated in mid-2028. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys working in the field, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining jobsite safety, and helping keep a multifamily project on schedule. You'll work closely with the Field Superintendent and Project Manager to support daily operations and deliver a high-quality community.

What You'll Do

• Support the Field Superintendent with daily jobsite operations, coordinating subcontractors, material deliveries, inspections, and construction activities to maintain productivity and keep work moving forward.
• Monitor construction progress, subcontractor performance, and work sequencing to help ensure project milestones are met and work is completed according to established schedules.
• Promote a safe jobsite by enforcing OSHA and company safety requirements, conducting Toolbox Talks and safety meetings, supporting site orientations, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions.
• Assist with reviewing material specifications and purchase orders, anticipating project needs, and coordinating delivery schedules with the Project Manager and suppliers.
• Monitor construction quality to ensure work follows approved plans, specifications, and company standards, communicating field issues and requests for information (RFIs) to the Field Superintendent.
• Maintain clear communication with subcontractors, suppliers, project team members, and other stakeholders while helping resolve day-to-day jobsite challenges.
• Support accurate project documentation, maintain an organized work environment, and assist with other field operations and project needs as assigned.

What You'll Bring

• At least one year of experience in construction supervision, field operations, or a similar construction role.
• A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, with a basic understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with subcontractors, project managers, and field leadership.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, and a willingness to learn company construction processes and systems.
• A valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements, along with the ability to travel overnight or for extended periods as needed.
