Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to assist the Construction Project Manager and EPC team across diverse projects in aviation, commercial building, power, oil & gas, and water. The role focuses on safety, quality, schedule, cost control, and documentation while coordinating with subcontractors and client interfaces.

You will help develop project plans, manage risk reviews, prepare RFPs, and support procurement and turnover processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Construction, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 3 years relevant construction experience required.
• Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Must be able to meet the company's driving requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day to day management of project safety, quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontractors, suppliers, procurement, proposals, estimates, documentation, turnover, client interface, and field-based activities.
• Collaborate with the Project Management team to build client relationships while interfacing with the client for proposal and project related items.
• Assist in development of internal and external project risk reviews and consult with Legal as required.
• Coordinate and assist in development of the Project Execution Plan, Quality Assurance Plan, Safety & Health Plan, Subcontracting Plan, Project Staffing Plan, Organization Chart, and Procurement Plan.
• Contribute to negotiation, approval and execution of primes, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
• Develop the project plan for site mobilization and demobilization and support the Construction Manager or Site Manager.
• Secure applicable project permits and support bidders' registration/pre-qualification.
• Prepare RFPs, scope development, bid and selection process, and contract documents for subcontractor and client selection.
• Support implementation of project specifications, drawing releases, and design changes.
• Execute downstream contract administration including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, change management and claims mitigation.
• Support project cost reporting, scheduling, work breakdown structures, and project closeout.
