Job summary

Essex Homes of WNY is seeking an entry-level Assistant Construction Estimator in Buffalo to support cost estimation for semi-custom residential homes and assist in pre-construction activities.

You will collaborate with design and sales, review bids, maintain Buildertrend databases, and seek cost-saving opportunities while upholding quality and design integrity.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Willingness to learn construction software applications.
• Some knowledge of residential construction materials and methods.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication and listening skills.
• Ability to work independently in a small office.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential projects from plans and specs.
• Collaborate with design and sales to ensure accurate pricing and timely proposals.
• Review subcontractor and supplier bids for competitive pricing.
• Maintain and update Buildertrend cost databases to reflect current pricing.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
• Support budgeting, change orders pricing, and contract negotiations.
• Expand Buildertrend usage to improve internal efficiencies.

Assistant Construction Estimator

Essex Homes is a leading residential semi-custom home builder based in western New York.We specialize in delivering high-quality, thoughtfully designed homes with an emphasis on craftsmanship, customer service and efficiency. We are looking for an entry-level Estimator to join our dedicated team.

The Estimator will play a key role in the pre-construction process, preparing accurate cost estimates for residential semi-custom homes. This is an opportunity for someone to learn our business, our processes and our software from our small group of experienced estimators.The responsibilities listed below include the type of work that you'd eventually be doing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential home projects based on architectural plans, specifications, and design options.
• Collaborate with the design and sales team to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of proposals.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Maintain and update cost databases within Buildertrend to reflect current market pricing and vendor rates.
• Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
• Provide support for budgeting, change order pricing and contract negotiations.
• Continue to build out the Buildertrend software package to improve internal efficiencies.

Qualifications:
