Job summary

Essex Homes of WNY is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead cost estimation for semi-custom residential homes in western New York. The role partners with design, sales, and construction teams to prepare accurate proposals using Buildertrend and Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate will review bids, update cost databases, and identify savings while maintaining design integrity. This full-time role offers growth into department management and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of residential estimating experience in custom or semi-custom homebuilding.
• Proficiency in Buildertrend or similar construction software and Microsoft Office.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction materials, methods, and market pricing.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential home projects based on architectural plans, specifications, and design options.
• Collaborate with the design and sales team to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of proposals.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Maintain and update cost databases within Buildertrend to reflect current market pricing and vendor rates.
• Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
• Provide support for budgeting, change order pricing and contract negotiations.
• Continue to build out the Buildertrend software package to improve internal efficiencies.

Senior Estimator (Residential Construction)

Essex Homes

is a leading residential semi-custom home builder based in western New York. We specialize in delivering high quality, thoughtfully designed homes with an emphasis on craftsmanship, customer service and efficiency. We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our dedicated team.

The Estimator

will play a key role in the pre-construction process, preparing accurate cost estimates for residential semi-custom homes. This individual will work closely with our design, sales and construction teams using Buildertrend software to manage estimates and streamline workflows

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed cost estimates for semi-custom residential home projects based on architectural plans, specifications, and design options.
• Collaborate with the design and sales team to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of proposals.
• Review and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
• Maintain and update cost databases within Buildertrend to reflect current market pricing and vendor rates.
• Identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or design integrity.
• Provide support for budgeting, change order pricing and contract negotiations.
• Continue to build out the Buildertrend software package to improve internal efficiencies.

• A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
