Position Department: Women's Track & Field

Position Type: Staff Part-Time

Overview

This Individual will provide critical support to the NCAA Division I Track & Field program by assisting with day-to-day team operations, student-athlete development, and event execution. Working closely with the Head Coach and coaching staff, this role contributes to training sessions, administrative scheduling, practice setup, and home meet management while ensuring full compliance with all NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations. The ideal candidate brings competitive track and field experience, strong communication skills, and a flexible schedule to accommodate afternoon practices, weekend meets, and travel demands.

Responsibilities
  • Coaching & Athlete Development Assist head and assistant coaches with designing and executing daily training, conditioning, and technical drill sessions. Provide real-time instructional feedback and performance breakdown to student-athletes during practice and competition. Support the implementation of event-specific injury prevention and athletic recovery protocols.
  • Operations & Event Management Lead facility setup and teardown for daily practice sessions and all home competitive meets. Manage meet logistics, including timing system setup, official officiating coordination, and field event measurement support. Oversee team equipment, maintaining inventory, gear distribution, and standard safety inspections.
  • Administration & Logistics Coordinate team travel arrangements, including meal orders, hotel rooming lists, and ground transportation. Maintain accurate operational records, such as practice attendance, workout tracking, and equipment logs. Assist in organizing video footage and technical analysis for post-meet review sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (or an equivalent combination of education, athletic experience, and formal training).
  • Required: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of competitive or coaching experience in track and field at the collegiate (NCAA/NAIA) or elite scholastic (high school/club) level. Must have hands‑on experience in athletic training operations, practice setup, or sport‑specific skill instruction.
  • Knowledge:
  • NCAA Rules & Compliance: Practical understanding of NCAA Division I rules, bylaws, and ethical standards surrounding student‑athlete engagement and athletic operations.
  • Track & Field Mechanics: In‑depth knowledge of technical execution, training methodologies, and safety protocols across track and field event disciplines.
  • Meet Operations & Logistics: Familiarity with home meet management, facility setup standards, and standard track and field timing/scoring software (e.g., Hy‑Tek, FinishLynx, MeetPro).
  • Skills: Instruction & Coaching: Ability to break down complex movement mechanics and deliver clear, actionable feedback to student‑athletes.
  • Organization & Time Management: Strong logistical skills to coordinate travel, equipment, facilities, and schedules under tight deadlines.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competency with basic administrative software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and video breakdown tools for performance analysis.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with student‑athletes, coaching staff, game officials, and athletic administration.
  • Abilities: Adaptability & Flexibility: Ability to work irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and extended multi‑day travel schedules.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to stand for prolonged periods outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift/move heavy track equipment (e.g., hurdles, mats, throwing implements up to 50 lbs).
  • Required: Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record (required for team transport/van operation). First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). NCAA Division I Coaches Certification / Recruiting Test clearance (must be completed annually upon hire prior to engaging in countable athletically related activities).
