Qualifications

  • Strong instructional communication and travel logistics planning.
  • Ability to travel, irregular hours, and walk 18+ holes daily carrying gear.
  • Valid driver's license with clean record.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED certs or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • NCAA Division I Coaches Certification / Recruiting Test clearance (annual).

Job description

This individual will support the Head Coach in building and sustaining a competitive NCAA Division I women's golf program. This position exists to enhance student‑athlete skill development, assist with strategic course management and practice execution, and manage operational logistics while maintaining strict compliance with all NCAA, conference, and university regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Coaching & Student-Athlete Development Assist the Head Coach in planning and executing daily practice sessions, short-game drills, and range work. Provide instruction on swing mechanics, course management, strategy, and mental preparation during practices and competitive rounds. Travel with the team to off-campus practices and tournament sites, providing on-course coaching and strategy support.
  • Operations & Logistics Coordinate team travel arrangements, including vehicle reservations, lodging, meal planning, and tournament entry documentation. Assist with gear and uniform distribution, inventory tracking, and golf equipment maintenance. Help organize team schedules, facility access, and tee-time bookings with home and local golf courses.
  • Recruiting & Administration Support the Head Coach in identifying, evaluating, and tracking prospective student‑athletes within NCAA guidelines. Maintain administrative records, including practice logs, athlete schedules, and team communications. Assist in organizing home tournaments, junior clinics, or program fundraising initiatives as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Required: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of competitive playing or coaching experience at the collegiate (NCAA/NAIA) or elite amateur/junior golf level. Demonstrated knowledge of golf strategy, swing mechanics, and course management techniques.
  • Knowledge: Golf Mechanics & Strategy: In-depth knowledge of swing fundamentals, short-game techniques, course management strategies, and mental game principles.
  • NCAA Rules: Firm understanding of NCAA Division I bylaws regarding practice hours, recruiting restrictions, and student-athlete eligibility.
  • Performance Technology: Familiarity with golf launch monitors (TrackMan, Quad), putting sensors, and statistical tracking platforms (e.g., Strokes Gained analysis).
  • Skills: Instruction: Ability to effectively teach and communicate technical golf concepts to elite-level female student‑athletes.
  • Logistical Planning: Strong organizational skills to manage complex travel itineraries, tee times, budget tracking, and tournament schedules.
  • Communication: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills when engaging with athletes, recruits, parents, course staff, and university personnel.
  • Abilities: Schedule Flexibility: Ability to travel extensively and work irregular hours, including early mornings, weekends, and multi-day tournament trips.
  • Physical Requirement: Ability to walk 18+ holes of golf per day in varying outdoor weather conditions while carrying golf equipment or supplies up to 30 lbs.
  • Driver Capability: Ability to safely transport student‑athletes long distances in university passenger vans.
  • Required: Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (required for team transport via department vans).
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
  • NCAA Division I Coaches Certification / Recruiting Test clearance (must be passed annually upon hire).
