Job summary

Benedictine University’s Athletics Department seeks an Assistant Coach for Men’s Lacrosse on a seasonal basis at the Lisle campus. You will assist the head coach with game prep, practice planning, recruitment, strength training, and scheduling while ensuring NCAA Division III rules compliance and alignment with the college’s mission.

  • Physical: Ability to handle stress; travel; long hours.

Job Title: Assistant Coach (Seasonal) - Men’s Lacrosse

Reports to: HeadCoach – Men’s Lacrosse

Status: Seasonal, Non-Benefit Eligible

Location: Lisle Campus

Position Summary: The Athletics Department at Benedictine University seeks an assistant coach for Men’s Lacrosse. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting the headcoach in all aspects of coaching, practice preparation, game preparation, strategy, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, strength training and scheduling in support of the Men’s Lacrosse program. Adherence to NCAA Division III rules and regulations, supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of the college and its intercollegiate athletics program, as well as adherence to departmental, university, NACC, and NCAA policies and procedures is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in game preparation and the implementation of game day strategies.
  • Assist with recruiting qualified prospective student-athletes to the program.
  • Oversee and supervise strength and conditioning component of athletes training regime.
Other Functions
  • Develop relationships within and positively promote Benedictine University and its surrounding community.
  • Attend departmental and University related meetings and events as directed.
  • Represent the Department of Athletics with sportsmanship, integrity and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for program from student athletes.
  • Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High School Graduate/GED Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience: Previous coaching experience required.

Specific Skills: Knowledge of NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment, rules and regulations.

Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Yes. Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and supervisory skills. Valid Driver’s License required. CPR certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements: Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather. Ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand. Understand the speech of another person. See details of objects that are less than a few feet away or are more than a few feet away. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. General Customer service and office environment.

Working Conditions: Indoor and outdoor environment. Nights and weekends are required.

Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
