Job summary

Paterson Public Schools seeks seasonal athletic coaches for the fall sports program. Candidates must hold a valid New Jersey Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Teacher Certificate and provide proof of experience if using the substitute, with CPR and AED certificates current.

Other requirements include obtaining a Concussion Awareness and Wellness certificate, a Heat Acclimatization Awareness certificate, and completing a Sports First Aid course within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Teacher's Certificate or Substitute Teacher Certificate required.
• Proof of experience required for substitute certificate.
• CPR and AED certifications must be current.
• Concussion Awareness and Wellness certificate, and Heat Acclimatization Awareness certificate, renewed annually.
• Sports First Aid course to be completed within one year of hire.

Job description

Season Dates: November 23, 2026-March 7, 2027

Qualifications

• New Jersey Teacher's Certificate OR Substitute Teacher Certificate; proof of experience required for substitute certificate holder
• Coaching experience preferred, but not required
• Must be available daily during the fall sports season
• Must be certified in CPR and AED, and holding a current certificate in both
• Must obtain a "Concussion Awareness and Wellness" certificate or its equivalent, renewed annually
• Must obtain a "Heat Acclimatization Awareness and Wellness" certificate or it's equivalent, renewed annually.
• All new coaches will have one year after being hired to successfully complete a course in "Sports First Aid".
• Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
• Pending budget availability
• All posting are open for ten (10) consecutive days following the date posted on the Paterson Public Schools website
